Joel Taylor will give video workshops cycle at Hexagram-Concordia. Please note that all the workshops are open to registered Hexagram Researchers, Research Assistants, Faculty and Graduate Students.

- Introduction to Video Production :

This workshop is designed to introduce Hexagram-Concordia Members to our Video Production resources and to give some hands on training. Participants will be shown basic safety and operation of our DV/HDV cameras and Lights.

This workshop is for those who have some experience with this equipment but are interested in learning more details about the various resources and also for those with little or no experience. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have access Hexagram-Concordia’s portable video equipment.

This workshop will not introduce Hexagram-Concordia’s HDCAM Cameras.

>> Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of DV style video equipment is useful but not required.

This is a one-day workshop being offered three times:

 Tuesday, January 15th, 10am-3pm
 Tuesday, February 5th, 10am-3pm
 Thursday, February 15th, 10am-3pm

Maximum 10 participants per session. This workshop is offered in English.

- Introduction to Post-Production and the Video Hub :

This workshop is a prerequisite for the Introduction to AVID Media Composer workshop and is required for access to Hexagrams Video Hub. It will be a comprehensive overview of video in a post-production context and will include hands on training in patching decks, calibrating monitors and deck programming.

Hexagram-Concordia’s Video Hub supports HD and SD material on HDCAM, Digibeta, BetaSP, DVCAM, HDV and DV. It includes a patch bay for connecting the AVID editing systems with these formats and for dubbing between them. There is also a real-time DVD recorder, a HDV converter and a Waveform monitor and Vectorscope.

This workshop is designed to introduce Hexagram-Concordia members to our Video Post-Production facilities and to assist in planning the post-production stage of a project.

>> Prerequisites: Basic computer skills are required.

This is a one-day workshop being offered four times:

 Friday, January 18th, 10am-4pm
 Tuesday, January 22nd, 10am-4pm
 Tuesday February 19th, 10am-4pm
 Thursday, February 21st, 10am-4pm

Maximum 4 participants per session. This workshop is offered in English.

- Introduction to AVID Media Composer :

This workshop is an introduction to AVID’s Media Composer video editing software and will give the participants the basic skills required to begin editing their video material. Topics will include:

Setting up a Project Capturing Media Cuts and Transitions Titles and Effects Working with HD Media Media Management and AVID Unity Exporting Files and Printing to Tape

>> Prerequisites: Hexagram-Concordia’s Introduction to Post-Production and the Video Hub workshop and basic computer skills are required. Participants must first have taken or have a confirmed spot in an Introduction to Post-Production and the Video Hub workshop before they can reserve a spot in a subsequent Introduction to AVID Media Composer workshop.

This is a one-day workshop being offered four times:

 Tuesday, January 8th, 10am-5pm
 Thursday, January 31st, 10am-5pm
 Tuesday, February 26th, 10am-5pm
 Thursday February 28th, 10am-5pm

Maximum 4 participants per session. This workshop is offered in English.
