Interdisciplinary Encounters 2020
How do trees perceive and react to their environment? What meanings are shared between humans and trees? How do trees affect us?
Each workshop will begin with an introduction to the five senses of trees and their anatomy. We will share some exercises that help in activating the non-verbal and intuitive right side of the brain through observational drawing. We will then go outside to draw in our own spaces. The initial exercises can be useful in the process you chose when drawing a tree or trees and the relational space you have with them. At the end of the day, we will meet back on Zoom, after you have sent jpgs of your drawings to me and I have uploaded them to share.
The workshop will take place on Saturday October 3rd from 11 am to 5 pm, with a break from 2:45pm – 4 pm. We will have a morning group meeting on zoom, an afternoon individual outdoor session at a place of your choice and an end-of-day group meeting to share work in a final Zoom session.
This workshop is offered by Susan Turcot, artist and professor at the School of Visual and Media Arts at UQAM.
