{"id":1289,"date":"2021-01-13T16:26:35","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T16:26:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hexagram.uqam.ca\/retake-image-matter-image-relay\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T15:07:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T20:07:49","slug":"retake-image-matter-image-relay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/en\/retake-image-matter-image-relay\/","title":{"rendered":"La Nuit des id\u00e9es : Retake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hexagram co-researchers and student members present at an event organized as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanuitdesidees.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La nuit des id\u00e9es<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>   <strong>When:<\/strong> Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2:20pm to 5:50pm <\/p>\n<p>   <strong>Where:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCrkTxcWUd83yrgt9f67qCUQ\/featured\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hexagram&#8217;s Youtube Channel<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reprisedevues.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> www.reprisedevues.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of the 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanuitdesidees.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La nuit des id\u00e9es<\/a>, for which the theme is \u201cCloser\u201d, a distributed, transatlantic, multi-site and networked apparatus will be activated to discuss, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centrepompidou.fr\/en\/horspistes2021\/matieres-dimage#6659\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an exposition <\/a> (<em>Mati\u00e8res d&#8217;image<\/em> and the artwork <em>Fossilisation<\/em>, during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centrepompidou.fr\/fr\/programme\/agenda\/evenement\/A7V4hcm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hors-Pistes Festival , Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris<\/a>), and discover research-creation practices that interrogate, from environmental and societal perspectives, the materiality of images and of interfaces that can bring us closer. In addition to formal discussions, the event will include video capsules and integrate a resolutely performative format, anchored in action, making, and demo, and that from the very locations of creation and dissemination (Centre Pompidou, Paris; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.concordia.ca\/cunews\/finearts\/2021\/01\/concordians-exhibit-sustainable-research-creation-project-at-the-pompidou-centre.html?c=%2Ffinearts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Speculative Life Biolab<\/em><\/a>, Milieux Institute, Concordia University).   <\/p>\n<p>    <!--more-->  In the context of the current sanitary crisis, which reflects the ecological crisis, images act as both remedy and problem : they enable the limitation of displacements and the possibility of social relations, at a distance. They also have an ecological impact that can no longer be neglected. How to rethink the materiality of the image in light of this dual approach? How to implement images which, by their materiality, bring us closer together, and closer together with the environment? <\/p>\n<p>    The reflection will be modulated by three pivotal concepts: (1) <em>fossil-imprint<\/em>, which will question the eco-signatures left by contemporary images; (2) <em>residual energy<\/em>, which will question methods of capture and recovery of energy linked to images and; (3) <em>matter-data<\/em>, which will critically examine the ubiquity of big data and its infrastructural as well as socio-environmental weight.
