These advancements challenge traditional workflows and open up new possibilities in sound, music, and interactive media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this session, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.concordia.ca\/faculty\/gabriel-vigliensoni.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gabriel Vigliensoni<\/a>,<\/strong> Assistant Professor in Creative Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia University, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/music\/marcelo-m-wanderley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marcelo M. Wanderley<\/a>,<\/strong> Professor, Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cirmmt.org\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CIRMMT<\/a>), and Area Coordinator for Music Technology at McGill University, will explore cutting-edge research and practices in AI, HCI, and musical interfaces.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Data- and Interaction-Driven Approaches for Sustained Musical Practice<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gabriel Vigliensoni<\/strong> will present his research on the control and steerability of neural audio synthesis models through data- and interaction-driven approaches. His talk will emphasize how small datasets enhance performers\u2019 creative agency and how interactive machine learning techniques improve expressivity and coherence in generative audio models. These concepts will be illustrated with examples from his creative practice, demonstrating the potential for rich, sustained musical engagements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Interdisciplinary Research on New Musical Interfaces<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marcelo M. Wanderley<\/strong> will discuss interdisciplinary research on new interfaces for musical expression (NIME), highlighting the interplay between music technology, HCI, and engineering. His practice combines formal musical training with extensive experience in sound recording, music production, music information retrieval, and human-computer interaction to develop novel approaches to music composition and performance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"http:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/MWanderley-200px-bw.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18469\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p><strong>Marcelo M. Wanderley<\/strong>&nbsp;holds a Ph.D. in acoustics, signal processing, and computer science applied to music. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the development of novel interfaces for music performance. He has authored and co-authored&nbsp;numerous&nbsp;publications on new interfaces for musical expression (NIME), including the co-edited volume&nbsp;Trends in Gestural Control of Musicand the textbook&nbsp;New Digital Musical Instruments: Control and Interaction Beyond the Keyboard. As the director of the Input Devices and Music Interaction Laboratory (IDMIL) at McGill University, he leads research in gestural control of sound synthesis, new instrument design, and analysis of performer-instrument interaction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leonardo.info\/laser-talks\"><strong>LASER<\/strong><\/a> (Leonardo Art Science Evening RendezVous) by Leonardo\/The International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology (ISAST) is an international program that brings together artists, scientists, humanists and technologists for informal presentations, performances and conversations with audiences.
