This research-creation by Marie-Christiane Mathieu\u2014artist and professor at Universit\u00e9 Laval\u2014draws inspiration from flood zone challenges to fuel a creative research approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cdigital shadow\u201d refers to the digital replica of an object, building, or system\u2014in this case, the virtual simulation of a flood in an art gallery. This project extends the speculative approach of NSTDA, notably by building on the work of Universit\u00e9 Laval\u2019s Centre for Research in Geospatial Data and Intelligence (CRDIG).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"335\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Webinaire-28-nov-WP.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22598\" style=\"width:265px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To assess the real flood risks for the Gallery, the artist consulted scientific data, including flood zone maps produced by the Government of Qu\u00e9bec, and spoke with two researchers from the Graduate School of Land Use Planning and Regional Development. According to these experts, the topography and recent developments significantly reduce the risks: the Galerie des arts visuels at Universit\u00e9 Laval, located in the Saint-Roch district of Qu\u00e9bec City, is safe from flooding until 2125. The project was supported by student members <strong>Jonathan Cantin-Demers<\/strong> and <strong>Vincent Isabel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>The <strong>R\u00e9seau Inondations Intersectoriel du Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong> (RIISQ), funded by the Fonds de recherche duQu\u00e9bec (FRQ), was created in January 2019.
