{"id":25240,"date":"2022-01-12T10:45:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-12T15:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/exploration-135-visions-transatlantiques\/"},"modified":"2026-06-19T11:19:46","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T16:19:46","slug":"exploration-135-visions-transatlantiques","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/en\/exploration-135-visions-transatlantiques\/","title":{"rendered":"Exploration.135, Transantlantic Visions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Juliette Lusven<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>January 20 to February 26, 2022<\/strong><br>Hours : Tuesday to Saturday, 12-5 p.m.<br>Opening : Thursday, January 20, 12-5 p.m.<br>Closing reception\u00a0: Saturday, February 26, 2-5 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>ELEKTRA<\/strong> <strong>Gallery<\/strong><br>5445 de Gasp\u00e9 Avenue<br>#104, Montr\u00e9al<br><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/y6Z2JszxbC9BfDes9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/y6Z2JszxbC9BfDes9\">Direction<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by bathymetric archives related to the laying of the first transatlantic telegraph cable, Juliette Lusven explores our relationship to the world and to technological interconnectivity through the current undersea Internet infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evoked as the backbone of our connectivity, since almost all of our digital exchanges transit through this vast network of fiber optic cables installed at the bottom of the ocean, this infrastructure seems just as imperceptible, also referring to an often inaccessible undersea environment that is still being mapped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Produced in the context of the doctoral research-creation project Exploration.135, this exhibition questions this phenomenon of invisibility and circulation from the Atlantic Ocean and the Web, by articulating different materialities and scale relationships in the implementation of an installation corpus.The cable routes become a geoperceptive and computational exploration of our hyperconnectivity, interacting flows, data visualization, undersea topography and satellite imagery with microscopic captures of technological residues, sediments and microfossils from the ocean floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em>In collaboration with Max Boutin and Marc-Andr\u00e9 Cossette.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Juliette Lusven is a student member and a recipient of the Hexagram-ELEKTRA project call 2021. The ELEKTRA Gallery creates a space conducive to aesthetic and discursive research through digital artistic production.
