ISEA2020 accueille, du 13 au 18 octobre,  lors de sa premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition en ligne organis\u00e9e \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al par Printemps num\u00e9rique, au-del\u00e0 de 350 intervenants, dont plus de 40<\/strong> membres chercheur.e.s, chercheur.e.s \u00e9tudiant.e.s et collaborateur.trice.s<\/b> participant \u00e0 20 communications d’articles, tables rondes et un atelier, ainsi que des expositions d’oeuvres. Plusieurs de nos chercheurs.e.s pr\u00e9sentent des projets interuniversitaires et internationaux. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

La premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition montr\u00e9alaise du International Symposium for Electronic Arts, en 1995, avait fortement marqu\u00e9 nos milieux culturels, acad\u00e9miques, et des arts technologiques. En t\u00e9moignent les entretiens \u00e0 ce sujet de Gis\u00e8le Trudel<\/a>, Yan Breuleux<\/a> et Jean Dubois<\/a>.<\/p>\n

En 2020, la th\u00e9matique Why Sentience ?<\/em> sera enti\u00e8rement consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019examen de la r\u00e9surgence de la sentience \u2013 ressentir-sentir-cr\u00e9er du sens \u2013 dans l\u2019art et le design r\u00e9cents, les \u00e9tudes m\u00e9diatiques, les \u00e9tudes scientifiques et technologiques, la philosophie, l\u2019anthropologie, l\u2019histoire des sciences et le monde des sciences naturelles \u2013 notamment la biologie, les neurosciences et l\u2019informatique. Nous demandons : pourquoi la sentience ? Pourquoi et comment la sentience est-elle importante ? Pourquoi les artistes et les universitaires s\u2019int\u00e9ressent-ils \u00e0 l\u2019exploration du ressenti au-del\u00e0, avec et autour du corps humain ? Pourquoi cette notion a-t-elle \u00e9t\u00e9 mise en avant dans un \u00e9ventail de disciplines au 21e si\u00e8cle ?

Les questions soulev\u00e9es au sein et autour de ce th\u00e8me sont li\u00e9es aux pratiques et aux recherches de plusieurs de nos membres, qui ont fait partie de l’organisation d’ISEA2020, du comit\u00e9 international de programmation et du jury artistique, \u00e0 savoir Christopher Salter et Alice Jim (Universit\u00e9 Concordia) co-pr\u00e9sident et co-pr\u00e9sidente respectivement des comit\u00e9s acad\u00e9mique et artistique.
