Ces chansons ont \u00e9t\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par une application de synth\u00e8se vocale cr\u00e9\u00e9e par l&rsquo;artiste et trois choristes imitant le son d&rsquo;une voix g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e artificiellement. Ce projet peut \u00eatre pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 sous la forme d&rsquo;une installation vid\u00e9o \u00e0 trois canaux ou d&rsquo;une performance en direct par le ch\u0153ur.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<div class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/524519247?color=ffffff&amp;title=0&amp;portrait=0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p class=\"small-text\">Cr\u00e9dit vid\u00e9o : Perte de Signal<\/p>\n<div class=\"justified\"><p>L&rsquo;application de synth\u00e8se vocale est bas\u00e9e sur l&rsquo;Alphabet phon\u00e9tique international des mots anglais. Contrairement \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres voix informatiques ou applications de synth\u00e8se vocale commerciales, les syllabes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 exag\u00e9r\u00e9es en alternant al\u00e9atoirement la hauteur, la longueur et le ton des prononciations. Les chansons ont \u00e9t\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par l&rsquo;artiste en tapant son propre texte et des citations tir\u00e9es du livre <i>Glitch Feminism<\/i> de Legacy Russell.<\/p>\n<p>La possibilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;utiliser des voix non-genr\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par ordinateur n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 envisag\u00e9e de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9pandue en raison de la nature commerciale de leur utilisation. Au contraire, les voix de Siri ou d&rsquo;autres IA similaires sont plus susceptibles de renforcer les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s li\u00e9s au genre. Lorsque nous communiquons avec des assistants virtuels, nous leur donnons des ordres et ils s&rsquo;y plient. M\u00eame si nous savons qu&rsquo;ils ne sont pas humains, nous engageons quand m\u00eame une conversation comme s&rsquo;ils l&rsquo;\u00e9taient, car cette technologie d\u00e9clenche la fonction langagi\u00e8re dans notre cerveau de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que le ferait une personne r\u00e9elle (Nass &amp; Brave 2007).<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.uqam.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2_IMAGE-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2592\" width=\"469\" height=\"405\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2_IMAGE-1.png 914w, https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2_IMAGE-1-300x259.png 300w, https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2_IMAGE-1-768x662.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"justified\"><p>Ce projet vise \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des voix g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par ordinateur qui sugg\u00e8rent la possibilit\u00e9 de voix non genr\u00e9es. Pour ce faire, il s\u2019appuie sur le concept de \u00ab\u00a0Multiple Selves\u00a0\u00bb qui est tir\u00e9 du livre Glitch Feminism, quoi qu\u2019il appara\u00eet en premier dans Nope (a manifesto) de E. Jane. Ce concept \u201cr\u00e9siste \u00e0 la lecture univoque et simpliste des corps intersectionnels qui voyagent sans r\u00e9pit et glorieusement \u00e0 travers de contr\u00e9es hostiles.\u201d La multiplicit\u00e9 y est le signe d\u2019une libert\u00e9. Plut\u00f4t que de cr\u00e9er une seule voix g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par ordinateur, ce projet embrasse le concept du soi comme multiplicit\u00e9 en diff\u00e9renciant, au sein d\u2019une m\u00eame voix, toutes les hauteurs et tous les tons de sa phon\u00e9tique. Ainsi, au lieu de faire des voix g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par ordinateur qui imitent l&rsquo;humain, les humains (ensemble Phth) apprennent et imitent les voix g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par ordinateur.<\/p>\n<div class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/t-8V-Phz2vA\" width=\"890\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div><br>\n<p>Cette D\u00c9MO est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans le cadre de COMPOSITE #26, co-organis\u00e9 par Molior, Hexagram, MAPP MTL et le Centre des sciences de Montr\u00e9al. <a href=\"http:\/\/compositemtl.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COMPOSITE<\/a> est un \u00e9v\u00e9nement bimestriel de r\u00e9seautage d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 num\u00e9rique. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement a pour objectif de cr\u00e9er un espace de rencontre r\u00e9current entre le milieu de l\u2019art et de l\u2019industrie du secteur num\u00e9rique, en incitant la rencontre et la pollinisation entre cr\u00e9ateurs, centres d\u2019artistes, organismes, entreprises et professionnels du num\u00e9rique.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3>BIOGRAPHIE<\/h3>\n<div class=\"justified\"><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahreumlee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ahreum Lee<\/a> est une musicienne et une artiste m\u00e9diatique interdisciplinaire originaire de S\u00e9oul, en Cor\u00e9e du Sud, maintenant bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. Elle termine sous peu sa ma\u00eetrise \u00e0 l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 Concordia sous la direction de Lynn Hughes et Leila Sujir. Par le biais de divers m\u00e9dias, Lee s&rsquo;int\u00e9resse \u00e0 la boucle de r\u00e9troaction (feedback loop) entre l&rsquo;individu et la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Comment les craintes et les angoisses sont-elles dissimul\u00e9es au coeur des dynamiques du pouvoir d\u2019une soci\u00e9t\u00e9? Comment peut-on subvertir cette dynamique du pouvoir \u00e0 partir de cette m\u00eame relation? Ses installations les plus r\u00e9centes se sont concentr\u00e9es sur l&rsquo;influence des algorithmes sur la perception de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 par les individus et sur les anxi\u00e9t\u00e9s cach\u00e9es r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9es par nos relations avec les nouvelles technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 finaliste du <i>Emerging Digital Artist Award <\/i>organis\u00e9 par EQ Bank et Trinity Square Video (Toronto) en 2019. Elle a expos\u00e9 et donn\u00e9 des performances \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, \u00e0 la Fonderie Darling, au Studio XX, \u00e0 la Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery, ainsi qu&rsquo;au Third Shift Festival (Saint John) et \u00e0 Axis Lab (Chicago).
