Cette installation combine des \u00e9l\u00e9ments visuels, vid\u00e9ographiques et sonores pour explorer une th\u00e9matique \u00e9mouvante&nbsp;: les corps non r\u00e9clam\u00e9s de personnes d\u00e9funtes \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. L\u2019\u00e9tudiant cherche \u00e0 \u00e9laborer un r\u00e9cit fun\u00e9raire \u00e0 travers des textes et des images, offrant ainsi une m\u00e9moire \u00e0 ceux qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 oubli\u00e9s. En partant d\u2019une liste de noms trouv\u00e9e sur le site Web du cimeti\u00e8re Le Repos de Saint-Fran\u00e7ois d\u2019Assise, il m\u00e8ne une enqu\u00eate artistique sur leurs vies, en \u00e9tudiant les rapports du coroner. Ce processus lui permet de cr\u00e9er un lien d\u2019appartenance avec ces personnes anonymes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cette exposition repr\u00e9sente la conclusion de son travail de recherche-cr\u00e9ation en arts visuels et m\u00e9diatiques, supervis\u00e9 par Gis\u00e8le Trudel [membre cochercheuse, UQAM]. Beno\u00eet Brousseau se pr\u00e9sente comme un artiste engag\u00e9 socialement, cherchant \u00e0 mettre en lumi\u00e8re des sujets tabous de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 contemporaine, dont les corps non r\u00e9clam\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>D\u00e9voiler l\u2019anonymat \/ Rendre hommage aux oubli\u00e9s<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La plupart du temps, les sujets de recherche choisi par Beno\u00eet d\u00e9coulent de ses exp\u00e9riences personnelles et autobiographiques, gr\u00e2ce auxquelles il raconte sa propre histoire \u00e0 travers celle des autres. Il cherche \u00e0 transcrire le silence en donnant la parole aux oubli\u00e9s. Souvent, \u00e0 travers ses \u0153uvres, il est question du temps qui passe et fa\u00e7onne l\u2019identit\u00e9, de la mort et de la souffrance physique et psychologique, de la qu\u00eate de rep\u00e8res, de la m\u00e9moire des lieux, des gens et des choses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans le cadre de son projet de ma\u00eetrise, Benoit Brousseau s\u2019est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 concevoir des r\u00e9cits \u00e0 partir du seul \u00e9l\u00e9ment tangible disponible, \u00e0 savoir le nom propre de personnes d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9es, mais non r\u00e9clam\u00e9es qu\u2019on retrouve \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur des rapports du coroner.&nbsp; N\u00e9anmoins, \u00e0 travers une approche d\u2019enqu\u00eate artistique, il s\u2019efforce d\u2019imaginer la vie de ces individus anonymes disparus. Par le biais de cette exploration, il cherche \u00e0 repousser les limites des rites fun\u00e9raires traditionnels en proposant de nouveaux r\u00e9cits visuels et textuels qui rendent hommage \u00e0 ces individus et \u00e0 leur existence souvent m\u00e9connue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selon une m\u00e9thode d\u2019enqu\u00eate, il a s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 le nom de personnes d\u00e9funtes dont le corps n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9clam\u00e9. Cette liste de noms se retrouve sur le site Web du coroner et celle du cimeti\u00e8re Le Repos de Saint-Fran\u00e7ois D\u2019Assise de Montr\u00e9al. Cette liste contient les informations suivantes&nbsp;: la date de naissance et de d\u00e9c\u00e8s ainsi que l\u2019adresse (le dernier lieu d\u2019habitation) o\u00f9 le coroner a pris connaissance du d\u00e9c\u00e8s. Ensuite, par une marche t\u00e9moin et dans un p\u00e9rim\u00e8tre pr\u00e9cis de Montr\u00e9al, il a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 les quartiers des habitations en prenant des photographies et en enregistrant les sons urbains. L\u2019utilisation de ces m\u00e9diums et les rapports des coroners influenceront sa m\u00e9thode de composition des r\u00e9cits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Par la suite, il a pu mat\u00e9rialiser ce projet avec l\u2019aide d\u2019un logiciel de son (Audition), et d\u2019un logiciel de traitement de l\u2019image (Photoshop), de son ordinateur, d\u2019un magn\u00e9tophone, de son appareil photo, de diff\u00e9rents r\u00e9cits et de son \u00e9cran de 40\u00a0pouces avec lequel il a projet\u00e9 la trame sonore urbaine dans le but de r\u00e9aliser une vid\u00e9o des trames de la bande audio. Cette \u00e9tape lui a permis de travailler la vid\u00e9o HD \u00e0 partir du logiciel (Premi\u00e8re pro). C\u2019est en incrustant les images fixes des visages flous qu\u2019il a pu finaliser la vid\u00e9o. Ensuite, il a \u00e9labor\u00e9 ce projet \u00e0 partir d\u2019\u00e9chantillons sonores dans lesquels il r\u00e9cite les noms des personnes non r\u00e9clam\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"VIDEO\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/671275923?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"720\" height=\"528\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est \u00e0 partir de son dernier cours \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise qu\u2019il apprend le concept de la <em>transmod\u00e9lisation. <\/em>En effet<em>, <\/em>ce concept devient d\u00e9finitif comme processus de cr\u00e9ation pour que le son puisse devenir un corps visible, une image, une ligne de dessin. Ce processus consiste \u00e0 transposer des signes textuels en signes visuels mobiles (mouvement, geste, espace, temps), en images fixes (dessin, photo, symbole, objet) ou en repr\u00e9sentations sonores (parole, bruit, musique).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donc, la s\u00e9rie d\u2019images imprim\u00e9es sur un papier translucide r\u00e9sulte de tr\u00e8s simples manipulations effectu\u00e9es sur l\u2019ordinateur, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire qu\u2019il r\u00e9alise des captures d\u2019\u00e9crans \u00e0 partir d\u2019arr\u00eat sur image de diff\u00e9rents instants localis\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur des fichiers sons. Pour ce faire, il prend des d\u00e9cisions esth\u00e9tiques, car c\u2019est tr\u00e8s al\u00e9atoire, et il doit appuyer sur son clavier de la derni\u00e8re syllabe enregistr\u00e9e du pr\u00e9nom de la personne non r\u00e9clam\u00e9e, et il fait la m\u00eame action pour le nom de famille. Cela sugg\u00e8re un dialogue entre une image fixe, la saisie graphique du son de la voix, et le phon\u00e8me pr\u00e9cis qui l\u2019engendre. Comme il est impossible \u00e0 premi\u00e8re vue de savoir que ces dessins repr\u00e9sentent les personnes non r\u00e9clam\u00e9es, il a ajout\u00e9 leurs noms au bas de chacun d&rsquo;eux. En outre, ses sources d&rsquo;inspiration artistiques incluent des figures telles que Christian Boltanski, Teresa Margolles, Andres Serrano et Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:75px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Entrer en r\u00e9sidence<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans la semaine pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant le d\u00e9but de sa r\u00e9sidence artistique \u00e0 la salle d\u2019exp\u00e9rimentation d\u2019Hexagram-l\u2019UQAM, Beno\u00eet Brousseau a pris les d\u00e9cisions finales concernant les \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui composeraient son exposition. Ainsi, d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de sa r\u00e9sidence, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 assist\u00e9 par des proches afin de l\u2019aider dans diverses t\u00e2ches. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que sa pratique artistique habituelle ne se concentre pas principalement sur l\u2019installation, la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019une installation au sol prenant une forme sculpturale est devenue une probl\u00e9matique nouvelle. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, il s\u2019est retrouv\u00e9 d\u00e9sorient\u00e9 et paralys\u00e9 face \u00e0 l&rsquo;espace de la salle d\u2019exp\u00e9rimentation et la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de concevoir une sc\u00e9nographie. Dans cette optique, il a sollicit\u00e9 l&rsquo;aide de deux amies pour r\u00e9aliser l\u2019installation au sol comme point de d\u00e9part pour ensuite \u00e9laborer sa propre installation. Cette repr\u00e9sentation visuelle lui a \u00e9t\u00e9 essentielle pour conceptualiser l\u2019exposition dans sa totalit\u00e9. Apr\u00e8s quelques mois de recul, il r\u00e9alise qu\u2019il a bien r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 faire ressortir l\u2019approche du r\u00e9cit et de la transmod\u00e9lisation. En effet, il a b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 de retours positifs de ses pairs, confirmant l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de ses techniques. Au fil du temps, ce lien conducteur marquant lui a permis d\u2019enrichir sa pratique artistique en puisant de ses dialogues personnels, de ses propres exp\u00e9riences v\u00e9cues, et accordant une attention particuli\u00e8re aux enjeux sociaux tels que le VIH, l\u2019inceste, la solitude, la mort et la maladie.<p>\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s l\u2019ach\u00e8vement de son baccalaur\u00e9at en arts visuels et m\u00e9diatiques (volet cr\u00e9ation), il a choisi de poursuivre ses \u00e9tudes au niveau de la ma\u00eetrise, toujours \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQAM). Il est laur\u00e9at de la prestigieuse bourse d\u2019excellence de recrutement (FARE\/2018-2019). Son travail artistique l\u2019a \u00e9galement conduit \u00e0 participer \u00e0 diverses expositions collectives, notamment au sein du Cuisinage. Ce collectif compos\u00e9 de trois artistes se d\u00e9die \u00e0 l\u2019exploration de l\u2019identit\u00e9 individuelle, des espaces et des communaut\u00e9s, dans le but d\u2019accro\u00eetre l\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019art et de l\u2019int\u00e9grer dans la vie quotidienne des individus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Remerciements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Beno\u00eet Brousseau exprime avant tout sa profonde gratitude envers sa directrice de recherche, Gis\u00e8le Trudel, dont le soutien a \u00e9t\u00e9 inestimable tout au long de son parcours acad\u00e9mique \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise.
