{"id":23032,"date":"2026-02-03T14:39:33","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T19:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/demo69-jacqueline-beaumont\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T15:10:46","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T20:10:46","slug":"demo69-jacqueline-beaumont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/fr\/demo69-jacqueline-beaumont\/","title":{"rendered":"DEMO69 Jacqueline Beaumont\u2014Growing Affinity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>F\u00e9vrier&nbsp;2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans cette DEMO, nous pr\u00e9sentons <em>Growing Affinity<\/em>, un projet qui explore la mani\u00e8re dont les syst\u00e8mes de soins d\u2019affirmation de genre fa\u00e7onnent les corps transf\u00e9minins. \u00c0 travers des sculptures semi\u2011vivantes qui se d\u00e9gradent et se transforment au fil du temps, l\u2019\u0153uvre mat\u00e9rialise l\u2019incarnation transgenre tout en proposant des cadres alternatifs pour penser la r\u00e9sistance au\u2011del\u00e0 des r\u00e9cits cliniques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e9velopp\u00e9 comme projet de m\u00e9moire\u2011cr\u00e9ation pour la ma\u00eetrise de Jacqueline Beaumont \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Concordia, <em>Growing Affinity<\/em> a \u00e9t\u00e9 montr\u00e9 au Centre culturel canadien \u00e0 Paris dans le cadre de l\u2019exposition <em>Oscillation<\/em>, du 16 octobre&nbsp;2025 au 16 janvier&nbsp;2026, puis \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, \u00e0 Espace Transmission, dans le cadre de <em>Panacea<\/em>, du 4 au 9 f\u00e9vrier&nbsp;2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>D\u00e9marche artistique<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Growing Affinity<\/em> mobilise ce que je nomme un \u00ab\u202fParcours m\u00e9tabolique affectif\u202f\u00bb (PMA), un cadre qui d\u00e9crit la mani\u00e8re dont les corps m\u00e9tabolisent des conditions toxiques en quelque chose de g\u00e9n\u00e9ratif, plut\u00f4t que de simplement les endurer. \u00c0 l\u2019image des cellules qui traitent nutriments et d\u00e9chets, cette recherche\u2011cr\u00e9ation \u00ab\u202fdig\u00e8re\u202f\u00bb des exp\u00e9riences v\u00e9cues \u00e0 travers des mat\u00e9riaux, transformant la violence en vitalit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">L\u2019\u0153uvre s\u2019articule autour de trois phases de recherche&nbsp;: la conception et l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie de biomat\u00e9riaux, la production de savoirs par l\u2019exposition, et le dialogue communautaire. Cette d\u00e9marche articule recherche empirique et pratique de biodesign, g\u00e9n\u00e9rant des connaissances mat\u00e9rielles et th\u00e9oriques par la synth\u00e8se de l\u2019art et de l\u2019analyse sociale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DEMO69-01.png\" alt=\"Sculpture ressemblant \u00e0 un fleshlight en mati\u00e8re organique.\" class=\"wp-image-22978\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"322\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DEMO69-02-03.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22990\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u2019approprie d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment des outils de simulation anatomique&nbsp;: poup\u00e9es en g\u00e9latine balistique, <em>Fleshlights<\/em>, artefacts de dissection \u2014 des objets culturellement con\u00e7us pour simuler des corps f\u00e9minins. Par cette appropriation, j\u2019examine comment les corps transgenres se trouvent inscrits dans des r\u00e9seaux d\u2019objets marchandis\u00e9s. Mon choix de travailler \u00e0 partir de sous\u2011produits d\u2019abattoirs, en extrayant de la g\u00e9latine \u00e0 partir de restes de marchandises, \u00e9tablit un parall\u00e8le entre la mani\u00e8re dont les personnes transgenres et les animaux deviennent des sites d\u2019extraction au sein du capitalisme industriel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cadre th\u00e9orique<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Le travail s\u2019ancre dans un large \u00e9ventail de pens\u00e9es transf\u00e9ministes et de th\u00e9ories n\u00e9o\u2011mat\u00e9rialistes, notamment <em>Animacies<\/em> de Mel&nbsp;Y.&nbsp;Chen, <em>Vibrant Matter<\/em> de Jane&nbsp;Bennett, le concept de \u00ab\u202ftrans\u2011corpor\u00e9alit\u00e9\u202f\u00bb de Stacy&nbsp;Alaimo, les <em>Trans*animalities<\/em> d\u2019Eva&nbsp;Hayward, la \u00ab\u202ftrans\u2011monstruosit\u00e9\u202f\u00bb de Susan&nbsp;Stryker, ainsi que le concept de \u00ab\u202fr\u00e9f\u00e9rent absent\u202f\u00bb de Carol&nbsp;Adams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plut\u00f4t que de concevoir \u00e0 l\u2019encontre des corps vuln\u00e9rables, je con\u00e7ois \u00e0 partir d\u2019eux, en traitant la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 comme une strat\u00e9gie \u00e9volutive plut\u00f4t que comme un \u00e9chec. Cette approche relie l\u2019analyse n\u00e9cropolitique \u00e0 la pratique mat\u00e9rielle, en examinant comment les objets conditionnent la cognition et fa\u00e7onnent l\u2019incarnation et les relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le processus<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Les sculptures d\u00e9butent par une structure\u2011\u00e9chafaudage imprim\u00e9e en 3D&nbsp;; ces armatures en TPU sont ensuite encapsul\u00e9es \u00e0 r\u00e9p\u00e9tition dans une formulation d\u2019hydrogel biopolym\u00e8re d\u00e9riv\u00e9e de sous\u2011produits d\u2019abattoirs, provenant de la r\u00e9gion de Montr\u00e9al. Des couches translucides s\u2019accumulent au fil de multiples cycles d\u2019immersion et de traitements de tannage v\u00e9g\u00e9tal, formant une enveloppe souple, \u00e9voquant la chair, qui r\u00e9fracte la lumi\u00e8re vers l\u2019int\u00e9rieur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"518\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DEMO69-04-1.png\" alt=\"Montage d'images du processus d'extraction de g\u00e9latine, de la peau de porc aux sculptures finales.\" class=\"wp-image-23001\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u2019int\u00e8gre au gel des mat\u00e9riaux intimes&nbsp;: cheveux humains, perles, ongles en acrylique, paillettes, cire d\u00e9pilatoire et val\u00e9rate d\u2019estradiol. Ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments renvoient aux modifications corporelles et aux pratiques esth\u00e9tiques transgenres, produisant des artefacts hybrides qui naviguent entre violence et s\u00e9duction, soin et consommation, clinique et sensuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les formulations de g\u00e9latine reposent sur des syst\u00e8mes pr\u00e9cis de r\u00e9ticulation utilisant tanins et sels naturels, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s par des m\u00e9thodes artisanales au sein du <a href=\"https:\/\/speculativelifebiolab.com\/\">Speculative Life Biolab <\/a>de l\u2019Institut Millieux. La vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 du mat\u00e9riau est accept\u00e9 comme une qualit\u00e9 inh\u00e9rente. Tout au long de leur exposition, ces objets semi\u2011vivants subissent une m\u00e9tamorphose&nbsp;: dessiccation, contraction, fissuration, apparition de communaut\u00e9s microbiennes. Cette d\u00e9gradation transforme des objets statiques en performances duratives, faisant \u00e9cho au caract\u00e8re graduel de la transition elle\u2011m\u00eame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les sculptures mat\u00e9rialisent quatre strat\u00e9gies de survie identifi\u00e9es \u00e0 travers une recherche communautaire. La clandestinit\u00e9 (stealth) s\u2019incarne dans des couches de g\u00e9latine translucide qui d\u00e9voilent et dissimulent simultan\u00e9ment, refl\u00e9tant les n\u00e9gociations strat\u00e9giques de la visibilit\u00e9 v\u00e9cues par les personnes trans dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Le glamour se manifeste par l\u2019int\u00e9gration d\u2019objets de beaut\u00e9 \u2014 perles, paillettes, ongles acryliques \u2014 reconnaissant le travail exigeant de l\u2019entretien esth\u00e9tique comme un travail de survie, tout en examinant l\u2019entrecroisement des normes de beaut\u00e9 avec la classe et la race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La monstruosit\u00e9 prend forme dans des hybridations organique\/synth\u00e9tique qui refusent la \u00ab\u202flisibilit\u00e9 acceptable\u202f\u00bb, glissant entre pr\u00e9cision technologique et instabilit\u00e9 organique, entre familier et alien, beau et grotesque. Le care (soin) se manifeste par la collaboration avec les communaut\u00e9s microbiennes et l\u2019acceptation de la d\u00e9composition, sugg\u00e9rant des alternatives aux cadres institutionnels et faisant \u00e9cho aux r\u00e9seaux d\u2019entraide, aux familles choisies et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9ducation par les pairs qui soutiennent les communaut\u00e9s trans lorsque les syst\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 \u00e9chouent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Les \u0153uvres<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Les \u00ab\u202fPoup\u00e9es\u202f\u00bb occupent des seuils entre le domaine organique et le domaine technologique. Pos\u00e9es sur des socles m\u00e9talliques, elles deviennent \u00e0 la fois sujets d\u2019examen et curiosit\u00e9s scientifiques. Leur morphologie fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux mod\u00e8les de \u00ab\u202fg\u00e9latine balistique\u202f\u00bb utilis\u00e9s en pathologie des blessures, ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 des artefacts sexuels commerciaux comme le manchon masturbatoire, rendant visible l\u2019imbrication entre violence m\u00e9dicale et violence sexualis\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les \u00ab\u202fFleshlight\u202f\u00bb reconceptualisent des formes reconnaissables de sextoys, exposant la mani\u00e8re dont les corps f\u00e9minis\u00e9s sont positionn\u00e9s comme objets consommables et discrets. En agrandissant ces dispositifs intimes et en les r\u00e9alisant dans des mat\u00e9riaux biomim\u00e9tiques \u00e9voquant la chair, je mets en \u00e9vidence la logique extractive inscrite dans des objets con\u00e7us pour simuler des corps d\u00e9pourvus de subjectivit\u00e9 ou de consentement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DEMO69-05.png\" alt=\"Sculpture rouge en mati\u00e8re organique.\" class=\"wp-image-22994\"\/><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DEMO69-06.png\" alt=\"Sculpture rouge en mati\u00e8re organique.\" class=\"wp-image-22996\"\/><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Les \u00ab&nbsp;Formes organiques&nbsp;\u00bb brouillent les fronti\u00e8res entre simulation et r\u00e9alit\u00e9, \u00e9voquant les technologies m\u00e9dicales et le regard clinique. Leur d\u00e9gradation in\u00e9vitable r\u00e9siste au fantasme de conservation, affirmant le refus du corps de demeurer stable ou contr\u00f4lable. \u00c0 l\u2019image de la cr\u00e9ature de Frankenstein, ces sculptures conjuguent pr\u00e9cision technologique et impr\u00e9visibilit\u00e9 organique&nbsp;: elles sont fa\u00e7onn\u00e9es avec intention, tout en \u00e9tant abandonn\u00e9es \u00e0 des processus biologiques \u00e9chappant au contr\u00f4le humain. Elles fonctionnent comme des g\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs de r\u00e9flexion, obligeant le public \u00e0 confronter les corps simul\u00e9s, la violence genr\u00e9e et la marchandisation de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience transgenre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DEMO69-07.png\" alt=\"Sculpture rouge en mati\u00e8re organique en forme de c\u0153ur humaine tenue par des pinces.\" class=\"wp-image-22998\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Growing Affinity<\/em> contribue aux \u00e9tudes transgenres, au bioart et au n\u00e9o\u2011mat\u00e9rialisme, tout en plaidant pour des approches \u00e9largies des soins de sant\u00e9 et de l\u2019incarnation. Le cadre du PMA propose une m\u00e9thodologie alternative qui envisage l\u2019atelier comme un site de recherche, o\u00f9 les mat\u00e9riaux participent activement \u00e0 la production de savoir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En adaptant le biodesign \u00e0 des m\u00e9thodes artisanales, le projet montre comment il est possible de d\u00e9mocratiser les savoirs tout en instaurant un dialogue sensible avec les syst\u00e8mes biom\u00e9dicaux. Par le biais d\u2019un biodesign sp\u00e9culatif et semi\u2011vivant, <em>Growing Affinity<\/em> propose de nouvelles mani\u00e8res de voir, de ressentir et de comprendre l\u2019incarnation transf\u00e9minine&nbsp;\u2014 des mani\u00e8res qui refusent la contention, m\u00e9tabolisent la violence en vitalit\u00e9 et invitent le public \u00e0 se confronter \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 poreuse, instable et profond\u00e9ment belle du devenir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Adams, C.&nbsp;J.
