{"id":24821,"date":"2026-05-04T11:30:57","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T16:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/?p=24821"},"modified":"2026-06-09T13:06:29","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T18:06:29","slug":"demo71-david-drouin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/fr\/demo71-david-drouin\/","title":{"rendered":"DEMO71 David Drouin \u2013 R\u00e9sonance latente"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mai 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>R\u00e9sonance latente<\/em> est une s\u00e9rie de performances sc\u00e9niques d\u2019improvisation audiovisuelle (A\/V) interactive entre <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drouin.cool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Drouin<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; musicien \u00e9lectronique et membre \u00e9tudiant &#8211; et un agent d\u2019intelligence artificielle responsable de la contrepartie visuelle. Les performances ont eu lieu dans le contexte d\u2019un projet de recherche-cr\u00e9ation qui s\u2019int\u00e9resse au potentiel des techniques d\u2019apprentissage machine pour augmenter les capacit\u00e9s d\u2019improvisation A\/V. Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9 dans le cadre d\u2019une <strong>ma\u00eetrise en communication (profil recherche-cr\u00e9ation en m\u00e9dia exp\u00e9rimental) \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce projet questionne l\u2019engagement avec ces techniques pour profiter de leurs capacit\u00e9s d\u2019\u00e9mergence de nouveaut\u00e9, tout en conservant des modalit\u00e9s de contr\u00f4le qui favorisent la production de sens. Dans cette DEMO, David Drouin dresse le parcours de cette recherche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fictionalisme improvisationnel et esth\u00e9tique du comportement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le philosophe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/philosophy\/eric-lewis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eric Lewis<\/a> propose une perspective int\u00e9ressante pour aborder la question du sens dans l\u2019improvisation musicale avec une machine \u00e0 travers sa th\u00e9orie du <em>fictionnalisme improvisationnel<\/em> (Lewis, 2019)<em>.<\/em> Il y argumente qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas de perte d\u2019authenticit\u00e9 dans l\u2019improvisation avec une machine si celle-ci poss\u00e8de la capacit\u00e9 de produire des r\u00e9sultats convaincants. Pour Lewis, on peut ainsi \u00ab les traiter comme des partenaires imaginaires dans notre improvisation, en jouant \u00e0 <em>faire semblant \u00bb.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour d\u00e9terminer ce qui pourrait s\u2019av\u00e9rer comme des r\u00e9sultats convaincants dans le contexte d\u2019un agent visuel, je m\u2019appuie sur l<em>\u2019esth\u00e9tique des comportements<\/em> (Penny, 2000). Celle-ci pr\u00e9cise que la conception de comportements implique la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un mod\u00e8le contingent de ce qui peut arriver dans le monde et la mani\u00e8re dont un syst\u00e8me peut y r\u00e9agir afin de diriger l\u2019attention esth\u00e9tique de l\u2019utilisateur dans une direction coh\u00e9rente avec l\u2019\u0153uvre elle-m\u00eame. Cela m\u00e8ne \u00e0 une n\u00e9gociation esth\u00e9tique entre dynamiques d\u2019interaction et intentions d\u2019auteur. Cette perspective permet d\u2019analyser les degr\u00e9s et la morphologie du d\u00e9ploiement des comportements d\u2019un agent dans le temps (Audry, 2021). Cet ancrage m\u2019a guid\u00e9 vers des choix de cr\u00e9ation visant \u00e0 mettre en place des conditions pouvant favoriser chez l\u2019agent l\u2019\u00e9mergence de comportements qui pourraient suivre des formes reconnaissables et se m\u00e9tamorphoser \u00e0 travers le temps. Au bout du compte, c\u2019est par mon observation des comportements de la machine dans le contexte socioculturel de la performance que je serai en mesure d\u2019\u00e9valuer sa <em>production de nouveaut\u00e9 situ\u00e9e <\/em>(Bown, 2021) et juger s\u2019ils forment des r\u00e9sultats convaincants qui ouvrent le jeu du <em>faire semblant<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>L\u2019agent visuel<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019agent consiste en un assemblage de logiciels utilisant des r\u00e9seaux de neurones artificiels que j\u2019ai programm\u00e9s et entra\u00een\u00e9s \u00e0 produire des collages vid\u00e9o figuratifs \u00e0 partir de l\u2019analyse de gestes musicaux humains. Ces collages utilisent un corpus d\u2019archives vid\u00e9o de la Beauce (DeLessard, s.d.), ma r\u00e9gion de provenance. Ce mat\u00e9riau a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 pour ses qualit\u00e9s <em>transbiographiques<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>qui consistent \u00e0 inscrire le biographique dans le fictionnel, ainsi que pour son fort potentiel de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de sens po\u00e9tiques en cours d\u2019improvisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"233\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/01_DEMO71-schema.png\" alt=\"Sch\u00e9ma de fonctionnement de l\u2019agent visuel\n\" class=\"wp-image-24824\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><sup>Sch\u00e9ma de fonctionnement de l\u2019agent visuel. Photo&nbsp;: \u24b8David Drouin.<\/sup><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les entra\u00eenements consistent en l\u2019association d\u2019analyses musicales, par exemple le spectre sonore ou l\u2019analyse rythmique d\u2019un instrument, \u00e0 des param\u00e8tres d\u2019effets visuels, comme le rythme de r\u00e9p\u00e9tition d\u2019une boucle vid\u00e9o ou le choix d\u2019une image \u00e0 afficher. Ces associations sont g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es \u00e0 travers des qualificatifs communs que j\u2019ai manuellement assign\u00e9s ou encore en laissant aux algorithmes des r\u00e9seaux la t\u00e2che de classer des donn\u00e9es \u00e0 partir des motifs qu\u2019ils ont d\u00e9termin\u00e9s statistiquement. Ces entra\u00eenements ont \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de <em>petits jeux de donn\u00e9es <\/em>(Abuzuraiq et Pasquier, 2024) que j\u2019ai cr\u00e9\u00e9s ou assembl\u00e9s. Photos&nbsp;: \u24b8David Drouin<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afin de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de comportements, un algorithme central orchestre les signaux musicaux qui d\u00e9clenchent les \u00e9v\u00e9nements visuels. Il d\u00e9termine aussi comment ces signaux peuvent \u00eatre analys\u00e9s \u00e0 travers les r\u00e9seaux de neurones entra\u00een\u00e9s ainsi que des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s, comme la cadence, le d\u00e9calage ou le lissage de chaque analyse. Cette sc\u00e9nographie est centr\u00e9e sur l\u2019utilisation d\u2019une toile de tulle translucide plac\u00e9e entre le public et moi et qui permet d\u2019afficher la projection vid\u00e9o des deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s. La tension rencontr\u00e9e entre des postures de concentration envers ma performance musicale et d\u2019observation de l\u2019image m\u2019a fait r\u00e9aliser que je vivais un rapport d\u2019interaction ayant des similarit\u00e9s \u00e0 celle de l\u2019improvisation avec un autre humain&nbsp;: je peux faire confiance aux apports et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9coute de mon partenaire-agent pour me concentrer sur l\u2019ex\u00e9cution attentive de mes propres gestes, tout comme je peux me laisser porter par ses contributions visuelles et la globalit\u00e9 per\u00e7ue de notre performance en devenir. En prenant la mesure de l\u2019immersion que je vivais dans l\u2019image, et de l\u2019effet de pr\u00e9sence de mon corps \u00e9clair\u00e9 par des projecteurs de lumi\u00e8re, j\u2019ai d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un cadre d\u2019improvisation avec des arr\u00eats marqu\u00e9s afin d\u2019amplifier volontairement certains moments de regards et d\u2019interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/hexagram.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/07_DEMO71.png\" alt=\"Exploration du langage performatif.\" class=\"wp-image-24837\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><sup>Exploration du langage performatif. Cette exp\u00e9rience rudimentaire a men\u00e9 \u00e0 des transformations perceptibles du comportement de l\u2019agent. Cela fut particuli\u00e8rement notable lors d\u2019une performance publique le 29&nbsp;janvier 2026, o\u00f9 les gestes visuels de l\u2019agent furent hautement constants et notablement diff\u00e9rents de toutes mes pratiques pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes. Ce type de <em>nostalgie r\u00e9flective<\/em>, comme le rappelle le sociologue Dariusz Brzezi\u0144ski, transforme cr\u00e9ativement le pass\u00e9 et ne cherche pas \u00e0 \u00ab\u2009mettre en lumi\u00e8re les v\u00e9rit\u00e9s de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9, mais plut\u00f4t \u00e0 en r\u00e9v\u00e9ler ses ambivalences\u2009\u00bb (Brzezi\u0144ski, 2024, p.&nbsp;97). \u00c0 un moment o\u00f9 la nostalgie sur demande devient \u00e0 la port\u00e9e de tous et toutes par l\u2019entremise des r\u00e9seaux sociaux et des techniques d\u2019IA, <em>R\u00e9sonance latente <\/em>confronte \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir aux sens que produit une nostalgie d\u00e9sormais m\u00e9diatis\u00e9e par des algorithmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
