Les changements climatiques apportent de nouveaux d\u00e9fis \u00e0 la fois localement et globalement. Les climats sont d\u00e9pendants des modifications de l’atmosph\u00e8re qui emmagasinent les gaz \u00e0 effet de serre r\u00e9sultant des activit\u00e9s humaines qui contribuent \u00e0 l’augmentation des temp\u00e9ratures. Entre 1948 et 2014, la temp\u00e9rature annuelle moyenne au Canada s’est r\u00e9chauff\u00e9e de 1,6 \u00b0 C, soit presque le double des autres r\u00e9gions du monde (Changements climatiques Canada<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Dans cette situation, comment est-il possible de penser et de cr\u00e9er avec la mont\u00e9e du niveau des mers, les variations de temp\u00e9rature et la s\u00e8cheresse des for\u00eats ?<\/p>\n

The Shore Line <\/em>: Rencontres interactives et interdisciplinaires
Liz Miller<\/strong> discutera de son documentaire interactif, The Shore Line<\/em> et de la fa\u00e7on dont le projet a favoris\u00e9 les rencontres interdisciplinaires. Cette initiative collaborative a impliqu\u00e9 des \u00e9tudiants et des r\u00e9alisateurs \u00e0 travers le globe pour la production de vid\u00e9os, de visualisations de donn\u00e9es et de ressources p\u00e9dagogiques, afin de lutter contre les menaces combin\u00e9es de la mont\u00e9e du niveau de la mer et du d\u00e9veloppement sauvage sur les littoraux du monde entier.<\/p>\n

Quand la s\u00e9cheresse peut \u00eatre b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour les for\u00eats : les le\u00e7ons acquises par la recherche sur les changements climatiques<\/em><\/p>\n

Daniel Kneeshaw<\/strong> discutera des nombreuses incertitudes quant \u00e0 l\u2019influence des changements climatiques sur la croissance des for\u00eats. Dans son programme de recherche, plusieurs placettes distribu\u00e9es \u00e0 travers le Canda sont \u00e9quip\u00e9es d\u2019instruments de mesures et de surveillance afin d\u2019obtenir un suivi continu en temps r\u00e9el. L\u2019impact des stress environnementaux sur les arbres est \u00e9tudi\u00e9 avec une base de donn\u00e9es volumineuse contenant diff\u00e9rentes mesures des cernes de croissance des arbres. Les r\u00e9sultats montrent que la s\u00e9cheresse diminue la croissance dans les r\u00e9gions du sud et qu\u2019elle l\u2019augmente dans les r\u00e9gions du nord, o\u00f9 les sols sont froids et humides.<\/p>\n

Nourrir la r\u00e9flexion<\/em><\/p>\n

Sur un mode d\u2019activisme tranquille et dans le but d\u2019alimenter la discussion autour de l\u2019action artistique environnementale, Alexandre Castonguay<\/strong> discutera de trois projets portant sur un repas \u00ab augment\u00e9 \u00bb entre amis permettant de partager des mets v\u00e9g\u00e9taliens. Des assiettes de porcelaine de forme incongrue retracent l\u2019\u00e9volution des temp\u00e9ratures globales au cours des derniers 150 ans. Les assiettes sont des quasi-objets pour mettre en relief les plats pr\u00e9par\u00e9s tout en rendant leur ingestion probl\u00e9matique.<\/p>\n

BIOS<\/p>\n

Elizabeth (Liz) Miller<\/strong> est documentariste et professeure. La collaboration et l’interactivit\u00e9 sont un moyen pour elle de relier des histoires personnelles \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes sociaux vastes d’actualit\u00e9. Ses divers projets documentaires ont trait\u00e9 d\u2019une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de sujets complexes : la privatisation de l’eau (The Water Front<\/em>), la justice de genre et environnementale (Hands On<\/em>), le climat et la r\u00e9silience (The Shore Line<\/em>). Elle est r\u00e9cipiendaire de nombreux prix internationaux. Ses projets sont int\u00e9gr\u00e9s \u00e0 des programmes d’enseignement et ont influenc\u00e9 les d\u00e9cideurs politiques. Son projet le plus r\u00e9cent, SwampScapes<\/em> (http:\/\/www.swampscapes.org) est un documentaire multiplateforme 360 portant sur les Everglades en Floride. Liz est membre d’Hexagram, professeure titulaire en Communication Studies \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 Concordia et co-auteure de Going Public: The Art of Participatory Practice <\/em>(2017).<\/p>\n

Daniel Kneeshaw<\/strong> (Centre d\u2019\u00e9tude de la for\u00eat, UQAM) est un chercheur en \u00e9cologie foresti\u00e8re qui s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 l\u2019influence des perturbations naturelles (\u00e9pid\u00e9mies d\u2019insectes, feux et chablis) et des changements climatiques (augmentation de la temp\u00e9rature et s\u00e9cheresse) sur la croissance et la survie des for\u00eats Canadienne. Il m\u00e8ne pr\u00e9sentement un projet documentant les changements climatiques gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des sites \u00e9quip\u00e9s d\u2019instruments de mesure dans le territoire forestier canadien. Son \u00e9quipe \u00e9tudie surtout les effets de la s\u00e9cheresse et des \u00e9pid\u00e9mies d\u2019insectes sur la dynamique foresti\u00e8re. Ces recherches ont pour but d\u2019am\u00e9liorer les techniques d\u2019am\u00e9nagement forestier ainsi que de les rendre plus r\u00e9silientes.<\/p>\n

Darkness designer<\/em> et pr\u00edncipe descolonizador<\/em>, Alexandre Castonguay<\/strong> aborde diff\u00e9rentes formes artistiques sugg\u00e9rant des modes d\u2019\u00e9change et d\u2019interaction inspir\u00e9s par la dynamique relationnelle des flux d\u2019informations. Il est professeur \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole des arts m\u00e9diatiques de l\u2019UQAM et est membre du r\u00e9seau Hexagram. Ses cr\u00e9ations ont \u00e9t\u00e9 diffus\u00e9es, entre autres, \u00e0 Piksel (Norv\u00e8ge), \u00e0 la Transmediale 11 (Berlin), au festival international d\u2019art vid\u00e9o de Casablanca et au Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al.
