Juin 2022<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

devenir-lumi\u00e8re<\/em> est un projet de recherche-cr\u00e9ation qui a pris la forme d\u2019une s\u00e9rie d\u2019interventions r\u00e9alis\u00e9e au printemps 2022 par catherine lejeune [membre \u00e9tudiant.e, UQAM] dans le cadre d\u2019une r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 Hexagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors que le capitalisme se mute en n\u00e9olib\u00e9ralisme, les biopouvoirs sont remplac\u00e9s par les psychopouvoirs (Han, 2016). Plut\u00f4t que de contr\u00f4ler-surveiller le corps du prol\u00e9tariat, les institutions s’attaquent maintenant \u00e0 la conscience qui assure la majorit\u00e9 de la production \u00e9conomique. Dans ce contexte concurrentiel o\u00f9 les humain.e.s sont isol\u00e9.e.s, hyper-responsabilis\u00e9.e.s et surmen\u00e9.e.s, la d\u00e9pression et l’anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 deviennent des troubles end\u00e9miques (Berardi, 2005).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce projet vise \u00e0 approfondir les r\u00e9flexions autour des r\u00f4les et la puissance de la recherche-cr\u00e9ation que j\u2019ai d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es dans le cadre de mon m\u00e9moire. L’art poss\u00e8de-t-il le potentiel de d\u00e9jouer les dispositifs de pouvoir actuels? Une \u0153uvre permettrait-elle de contrer le manque de sensations qui est caus\u00e9 par le contexte technopolitique qui s\u2019est exacerb\u00e9 depuis la pand\u00e9mie? Est-il r\u00e9aliste de penser qu\u2019une pratique artistique puisse contribuer \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer le monde ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019espace et aux ressources offertes, j\u2019ai ainsi eu l\u2019occasion de tester si mon hypoth\u00e8se de recherche me permettrait de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions. Plus exactement, cette r\u00e9sidence m\u2019a permis de jouer avec des mati\u00e8res qui interagissent au contact de la lumi\u00e8re et d\u2019exp\u00e9rimenter les effets hallucinatoires des stroboscopes sur mon esprit. Le but \u00e9tait d\u2019observer si ces interventions me permettraient d\u2019alt\u00e9rer ma conscience et d\u2019induire un \u00e9tat de bien-\u00eatre profond, proche de celui qui peut \u00eatre contempl\u00e9 lors de m\u00e9ditations transcendantales (ter Meulen, Tavy et Jacobs, 2009).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STROBOSCOPE, PERCEPTION ET CONSCIENCE :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

En fixant un stroboscope les yeux ferm\u00e9s durant plusieurs minutes, diff\u00e9rents ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes perceptuels int\u00e9ressants sont apparus devant moi. J\u2019ai d\u2019abord remarqu\u00e9 des cercles et des pixels fluorescents qui se complexifiaient plus je les observais. Apr\u00e8s cinq minutes, je distinguais des formes g\u00e9om\u00e9triques pr\u00e9cises aux couleurs \u00e9clatantes, qui s\u2019organisaient et bougeaient \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re d\u2019un mandala kal\u00e9idoscopique. Ces manifestations fractales tournaient sur elles-m\u00eames \u00e0 un rythme assez rapide pour induire un sentiment de vertige. Au bout d\u2019une douzaine de minutes, j\u2019ai \u00e9ventuellement ressenti une impression de vide total, mais r\u00e9confortant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette exp\u00e9rience me fait penser aux techniques de scrutation qui sont retra\u00e7ables jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9gypte antique et qui permettent d\u2019acc\u00e9der \u00e0 des visions intuitives ou psychiques. Par exemple, je pense \u00e0 celle o\u00f9 il suffit de passer rapidement une main devant la lumi\u00e8re du soleil ou d\u2019une lampe \u00e0 l\u2019huile (Haill, 2014). Dans plusieurs cultures et jusqu\u2019\u00e0 aujourd\u2019hui, des techniques connexes existent et permettent d\u2019acc\u00e9der \u00e0 ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne divinatoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec l\u2019invention de l\u2019\u00e9lectroenc\u00e9phalogramme au d\u00e9but du vingti\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, diff\u00e9rents milieux de recherche se sont int\u00e9ress\u00e9s aux effets physiologiques de la stimulation photique sur l’esprit (ter Meulen, Tavy et Jacobs, 2009). Bien que l\u2019origine de ces images mentales reste incomprise, les dialogues qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9chang\u00e9s depuis entre les scientifiques et les artistes ont n\u00e9anmoins permis de r\u00e9aliser que les stroboscopes agissent en tant que moyen non pharmacologique d’induire des \u00e9tats de conscience alt\u00e9r\u00e9s (ASC) (Haill, 2014).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Par cette occasion de confirmer la probabilit\u00e9 de mon hypoth\u00e8se, je poursuivrai l\u2019analyse de mon sujet de recherche avec confiance tout en sachant de fa\u00e7on situ\u00e9e quelles sont les sensations et les impressions ressenties lors d\u2019une stimulation stroboscopique. Il sera possible de suivre l\u2019\u00e9volution de ce projet sur mon site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspir\u00e9.e par ses \u00e9tudes en psychologies et les mouvements artistiques des ann\u00e9es soixante-dix, sa pratique en arts m\u00e9diatiques et en installation vise \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper un dialogue transversal entre la politique, la technologie et la conscience. Candidat.e \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise en arts visuels et m\u00e9diatiques \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, lejeune a partag\u00e9 son travail dans diff\u00e9rentes galeries, conf\u00e9rences et r\u00e9sidences, tant au Canada qu\u2019en Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
