Calls for applications: Hexagram exhibition at Colloque Art, société et partage de savoir

The Hexagram network is currently looking for staff to fill two temporary positions at an event to be held on the UQAM campus. We are looking for an exhibition mediator and a technician to ensure the smooth running of the activity, which will take place from May 15 to 17.

MEDIATOR

Hexagram @ Colloque Art, société et partage de savoir

May 15, 16, 17, 2019, UQAM DeSève Pavilion.

Under the supervision of the Hexagram Network Programming Coordinator, the mediator will have the main responsibility of welcoming visitors to the Hexagram presentation booth set up during the ” Art, société et partage de savoir” symposium. The mediator will also guide the public through the content presented by the network and answer potential questions from visitors.

More specifically, the mediator shall:

  • Read the content presented by Hexagram at the conference
  • Have a good understanding of the research-creation issues as conveyed by Hexagram
  • Welcome visitors to the Hexagram booth during the conference
  • Keep a count of the number of visitors to the Hexagram booth
  • Briefly present the content exposed
  • Answer visitors’ questions about the Hexagram network
  • Read the programme of the conference “Art, society and knowledge sharing”
  • In collaboration with the exhibition technician, install the exhibition material before the beginning of each day of the conference.
  • In collaboration with the exhibition technician, store the exhibition material in the designated area at the end of each day of the conference.

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Must be available for preparatory meetings between May 1 and 15, 2019
  • Organized, responsible, energetic
  • Prior knowledge of the Hexagram network is an asset
  • Student members of the Hexagram network will be prioritized

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Hexagram @ Colloque Art, société et partage de savoir

May 15, 16, 17, 2019, UQAM DeSève Pavilion.

Under the supervision of the technical director of the Hexagram network, the technical assistant will have the main responsibility for the installation and operation of the equipment during the “Art, society and knowledge sharing” conference. The technical assistant will also participate in the technical planning of the booth and will be responsible for the storage and installation of equipment each day of the conference.

More specifically, the technical assistant shall:

  • Participate in the development of the technical plan for the Hexagram network kiosk
  • Prepare equipment for transport (round trip)
  • Participate in the on-site installation of screen and poster content
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the equipment (looped content, sound, etc.)
  • Ensure a clean and professional presentation of the booth
  • Organize the equipment at the end of each day of the conference
  • Be available on call during the conference to solve technical problems*
  • Set up the kiosk at the beginning of each day of the conference

*The selected candidate will be compensated for on-call availability periods

Required:

  • Be currently a university student
  • Experience in technical installation for exhibition or other purposes
  • Be skilled with standard technological equipment (TV, media players, audio equipment)
  • Have a good knowledge of video formats
  • Minuteness and attention to detail
  • Having studied at the Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Media (UQAM), Intermedia (Concordia) or equivalent is an asset.
