The Conseil québécois des arts médiatiques – CQAM, in collaboration with Element AI and Hexagram, invites you on February 7, 2020 to a forum on artificial intelligence (AI). This forum will highlight artificial intelligence creations made in recent years within the media arts, academic milieu and creative companies in Montreal.

It is important to clarify the place that artificial intelligence already occupies in the media arts and creative industries. It may be a new “trend” for the general public, but artists, researchers and companies have been using the resources of artificial intelligence for several years now. Our aim is to generate a better understanding of the modalities involved for artists, companies and researchers, in order to create collaborations or initiate networking.

  With the participation of Erin Gee (artist), Sylvain Lebeux (LANDR), Bertrand Gervais (ALN NT2), Marc-André Cossette (Concordia, Hexagram).
  How have artists embraced artificial intelligence and what types of work have been produced to this day? What are the current advances in artificial intelligence?

  Panel 2: The limits of artificial intelligence
  With the participation of François Quévillon (artist), Alexandre de Brébisson (Lyrebird), Sofian Audry (Perte de Signal, Hexagram), Christopher Salter (Concordia, Hexagram).
  What are the technical limits of artificial intelligence today? What are the theoretical limits: computational creativity vs. computational art?

  Panel 3. Copyright in artificial intelligence
  With the participation of Adam Basanta (artist), Paul Gagnon (Element AI), Eliane Ellbogen (Eastern Bloc), Tom Lebrun (Laval University).
  Between human creators, artificial intelligences and the programmers of these entities, how will we distribute merit as well as copyright?
