Martin Beauregard Appointed Head of UQAT’s New Research-Creation Chair

In a context of ecological transition, transforming industrial residues into potential resources has become a major challenge for both the scientific community and economic sectors.

Interdisciplinary and Cross-Sectoral

The Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) is embracing this momentum by announcing the creation of a new institutional chair led by co-investigator Martin Beauregard. The Chaire institutionnelle de recherche-création en art environnemental, écoconception et fabrication numérique adopts an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach aimed at contributing to the development of a circular economy.

Rooted in a region strongly shaped by forestry, mining, and agricultural activities, the chair promotes connections between creative practices in the arts and design, and those in materials science and manufacturing technologies.

Three Research-Creation Axes

This ambitious program is structured around three research-creation axes “addressing the challenges of ecological transition and the dynamics of rural territories”: Environmental art, design and situated practices; Ecodesign, eco-materiality and digital fabrication; Mediation and digital environments.

By establishing this new structuring hub, the Institutional Research-Creation Chair in Environmental Art, Ecodesign, and Digital Fabrication brings together academic, industrial, and civil society actors to place new technologies at the service of ecosystem sustainability. Its creation comes at an opportune time, aligning with the objectives of the new Research and Research-Creation Plan of the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
