In the framework of the new 2020-2027 cycle of support received from the FRQSC, Hexagram will further its goals to develop and promote research-creation, by fostering collaborations with communities of research and practice.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Manuelle Freire as the new General Coordinator of the network.

 

Freire received her doctoral degree from Concordia University in Art Education (2017), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Paris at La chaire arts & sciences de l’École Polytechnique et l’École nationale supérieur des arts décoratifs (2018-2019). She investigates institutional frameworks and disciplinary cultures conducive to the development of research programmes at the intersections of art, technology, and science; and the knowledge exchanges that occur across research, cultural, and industrial milieux through collaborative creative material practices. She has worked at ELEKTRA – BIAN, with Alain Thibault – a collaborator member of Hexagram, and throughout her doctoral studies she was events coordinator at Hexagram (2014-2016). Freire is currently Part-Time Faculty in Art Education at Concordia University, teaching Special Topics in Media Technologies and Light-Based Media.

Her return to Hexagram, taking on the role of general coordinator since September 14, marks a transition towards renewed goals, priorities, and governance strategy, which reflect the 2020-2027 plan for the Hexagram network. Her mandate will entail contributions to specific research projects and research-creation outreach activities.

 

The team would like to thank Natalie Lafortune, General Coordinator from 2012 to 2020, who, in collaboration with 6 different co-directors and many colleagues, contributed to important milestones in the network’s growth,  and played a key role in the most recent FRQSC strategic cluster grant.

 

We also thank Marc-André Cossette, Programme and Communications coordinator from 2016 to 2020, who contributed to redesign our website, produced content related to research and creation, and provided valuable support to the network’s Co-Researchers in numerous programming activities.

 

Hexagram also welcomes Bart Simon as interim Co-Director (July 2020 to January 2021), replacing Christopher Salter who is currently actively pursuing his research and creation projects.
