Roundtable Laser Hexagram / Montréal
Wednesday September 14th, 2016 7pm – 8:30pm
Dance is an art of time. Dance therefore points to particular issues regarding conservation, transmission and re-enactment. The roundtable will focus on the notion of re-enactment in dance and its modes of effectuation, while questioning the status of documentary traces and their pertinence. The discussion will build on the visionary performance Danse dans la neige by Sullivan that was filmed by Riopelle in 1948, of which only the photographs of Maurice Perron remain, as well the video Les Saisons Sullivan (2007), produced fifty-nine years later by Mario Côté and Françoise Sullivan.
