ISEA 2020 – International Symposium on Electronic Arts @ Montreal
Fall intensive online course: MUSI 398 GA / EAST 398 GA [3 credits]
The intensive ISEA 2020 short program will offer undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of fine arts backgrounds an opportunity to work on self-proposed (electronic art) research-creation projects, to participate in pre-symposium lectures and workshops, and to attend one of the leading events on electronic arts. This special intensive program allows students from other universities to participate, too.
After some days of lectures and research-creation workshops, students will attend the International Symposium of Electronic Arts – ISEA2020, one of the largest electronic arts academic and artistic – itinerant – event on the field: http://isea2020.isea-international.org. The Symposium program of activities mixes lectures, forums, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and keynote presentations. Students will be able to choose from a huge pool of activities and presentations – in agreement with the professor – based on their research/artistic interests.

NEW MUSIC AND MEDIA ARTS
Summer intensive online course: MUSI 322 [3 credits]
The intensive New Music and Media Arts online short summer program will offer undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity (a) to work on [sound and media art, experimental and electronic music] self-proposed research and creation projects; (b) to attend lectures on media/sound art creation and contemporary music composition, workshops and seminars on music & sound/media art technology by leaders in the field; (c) and to receive individual feedback/mentorship on their creative work by internationally recognized artists, composers, and technology experts (Dr. Rodrigo Sigal, Prof. Francisco Colasanto, among others).
A selection of the produced artistic works will be presented during the international festival Visiones Sonoras hosted by our partner institutions, the Mexican Centre for Music and Sound Art – CMMAS and UNAM, in Mexico.

Experimental Art and Music for NON-musicians
Summer intensive online course: MUSI 398 GC [3 credits]
The intensive Experimental Art and Music for NON-musicians online short summer program will offer non-musicians graduate and undergraduate students with any background (fine arts, science, engineering, communication, and beyond) an opportunity: [a] to experiment with sound and electronic media; [b] to research the world of contemporary music, and its multiple intersections with other art forms as well as with science and more; and [c] to create innovative sonic structures using both simple-to-use (free) software tools and any daily or synthesized sounds with an open possibility to build complex musical works.
Expect to go from recording, transforming and mixing natural or electronic sounds to soundscape creation and experimental electronic composition, exploring connections with a diversity of fields such as physics, philosophy, environmental studies, history, programming, image processing, mathematics, biology, transdisciplinary research, and more.
Program dates: Friday evenings & weekends between June 26 and July 11, 2020.
